Effective Friday, 9 January 2026, Klappir co-founder Þorsteinn Svanur Jónsson, currently serving as Chief Business Development Officer, will assume responsibility for day-to-day operations as Chief Executive Officer. Íris Karlsdóttir, our Head of Partnership will take over his role as Chief Business Development Officer.
Jón Ágúst Þorsteinsson will focus on advancing Klappir’s corporate growth strategy.

What began as an ambitious idea has grown into a robust and scalable company with a strong ecosystem, a clear purpose, and an expanding international presence. Today, Klappir plays a meaningful role in helping organizations understand and manage resources, improve their sustainability performance by creating more value with less cost. I am deeply proud of what we have built together.
Like any successful organization, Klappir journey has been shaped by both hard work and good timing. Above all, however, the credit belongs to the people of Klappir, our employees, ecosystem, partners, and customers, whose commitment, innovation, and belief in our mission have driven the company forward. Since the company’s founding, we have worked closely together to shape Klappir’s strategy, execution and culture, sharing responsibility for key decisions. From the beginning, our focus has been on building a strong product foundation and laying the groundwork for long-term growth. As the company matures, the organization is now being shaped with an increased emphasis on scaling, execution, and growth.
I am confident that this renewed organisational focus and clarity of roles will serve Klappir, its customers, and its partners well in the years ahead. We have worked exceptionally closely together since founding the company in 2014, and we look forward to continuing that collaboration in our respective roles.
I care deeply about Klappir, its people, its products, and the growing ecosystem around it and, most of all, about the opportunity Klappir has to help organizations around the world improve their sustainability performance and create long-term value for society.
