Lumito announces positive results from pilot study and Offspring Biosciences includes SCIZYS in its customer offering
Lumito AB (publ) (”Lumito” or the ”Company”) and Offspring Biosciences Sweden AB (”Offspring Biosciences”) today announce positive results from the joint pilot study. The study results confirm that Lumito’s SCIZYS® platform works with Roche Ventana’s Discovery Ultra – an established system for automated tissue analysis – within the applications tested. Offspring Biosciences is now including SCIZYS as a complementary method for selected applications in its commercial offering. The decision represents a first commercial step in the collaboration. Lumito and Offspring Biosciences are also engaged in concrete discussions with an external customer.
The pilot study, the initial results of which were announced in a press release on 14 July 2026, was conducted on selected applications and has shown that SCIZYS can be integrated into Offspring Biosciences’ established and automated workflows for tissue analysis based on Roche Ventana’s Discovery Ultra platform, for the applications and under the experimental conditions tested.
The results from the pilot study with Offspring Biosciences, together with previously verified compatibility with Leica Bond RX, mean that SCIZYS has now demonstrated compatibility with two of the leading platforms for automated tissue staining.
For Lumito, the key point is not only that the technology works with another established platform, but also that it is now included in Offspring’s commercial offering. This means that Lumito’s technology can be offered to customers through an established partner, without customers having to develop their own analytical workflows around SCIZYS. In relevant customer projects, Offspring Biosciences will engage Lumito as a specialist subcontractor. The collaboration thus demonstrates how Lumito can reach more customers and create business opportunities through partnerships with companies that already provide analytical services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
From pilot study to concrete customer dialogue
Lumito and Offspring Biosciences are in discussions with an external customer regarding a potential business opportunity in which Lumito’s SCIZYS-based tissue analysis forms part of a broader offering. The dialogue is based on an identified need for an integrated tissue analysis solution, from biopsy to final analysis result. To address this need, Lumito took the initiative to develop a joint offering together with Offspring Biosciences.
”This is an important step forward for Lumito. We have demonstrated that SCIZYS can be integrated with Roche Ventana’s Discovery Ultra, an established platform for automated tissue staining. At the same time, we have taken an important commercial step, as our technology is now included as part of Offspring’s offering to its customers. The fact that we are already engaged in concrete customer dialogue demonstrates the potential to translate the technology into actual customer projects. We have thus taken another step from technical validation to commercial use,” says Sanna Wallenborg, CEO of Lumito.
”The positive results show that Lumito’s technology can be integrated into our standardized and automated workflows for the applications tested. By including SCIZYS®-based analysis as a complementary method in our offering, we can provide our customers with access to an additional analytical method for selected applications, where its use is assessed based on the project’s specific research question and analytical requirements,” says Åsa Johansson, CEO of Offspring Biosciences.

About Lumito
Lumito develops and markets innovative technology that opens new possibilities for advanced analysis of tissue samples in research, drug development and digital pathology.
The Company’s patented SCIZYS® platform is based on upconverting nanoparticles (UCNPs) and combines very high detection sensitivity with minimal interfering background. The technology enables the identification and quantitative analysis of specific proteins in tissue, even at low levels that may be difficult to detect using conventional methods. The high signal stability and low background create the conditions for more detailed and reproducible tissue analysis.
SCIZYS® has the potential to contribute to the development from predominantly visual and semi-quantitative assessment of biomarkers towards more sensitive, objective and quantitative analysis. This can provide researchers with new tools to understand disease mechanisms, identify biomarkers and develop more individualized treatment strategies.
Lumito’s vision extends beyond today’s research applications. By enabling more detailed information about biological processes, the Company aims to contribute to the development of precision medicine, where better medicines, diagnostics and more informed treatment decisions may, over time, lead to improved patient outcomes and more efficient use of healthcare resources.
