Aprila Bank ASA: Revised methodology for calculating the risk exposure amount for operational risk increases the banks capital ratio
2026-09-01 19:40:08
Aprila Bank ASA (“Aprila”) has completed a review of its calculation of the risk exposure amount (“REA”) for operational risk under CRR3.
The review concludes that Aprilas previous methodology has been more conservative than required under the applicable CRR3 framework.
Aprila has adopted the revised methodology with immediate effect and applied it retrospectively from 31 December 2025. Based on the revised methodology, REA for operational risk is NOK 86,1 million, compared to NOK 250,1 million as previously reported.
As the operational risk REA is calculated on an annual basis, the revised figure applies unchanged to the affected reporting periods. The resulting total capital ratios are:
31.12.2025: Total capital ratio restated to 37.8% (reported: 32.2%).
31.03.2026: Total capital ratio restated to 34.3% (reported: 29.7%).
30.06.2026: Total capital ratio restated to 36.7% (reported: 32.0%).
Corrected COREP reports reflecting the revised methodology will be submitted for the affected reporting periods.
The change does not reflect any change in Aprilas underlying operational risk profile. It results from a revised classification of the components included in the CRR3 Business Indicator used to calculate the REA for operational risk.
The revised methodology has been subject to external review.
