Successful redeployment of advanced material equipment demonstrates circular
economy approach
(Arendal, Norway / Sherbrooke, QC, Canada - 8 September 2026)
Tekna Holding ("Tekna"; OSE: TEKNA), a world-leading provider of plasma
technology systems and advanced materials, today announced the sale of a
refurbished TekNanoTM 40 system to a private customer in Asia for CAD 1.1million,
with delivery scheduled for Q4 2026, and revenue recognised in the same quarter.
This is the first refurbished system Tekna has brought to market.
The sale marks a milestone for Tekna, representing a growing opportunity to
provide a lower entry price point for customers evaluating induction plasma
technology while adding Systems revenue at low incremental cost.
"This refurbished system sale demonstrates that our equipment is built to last
and can deliver value even in a second-generation deployment," said Claude Jean,
CEO of Tekna. "Combined with our recycled powder materials program, we are
building a comprehensive sustainability narrative that appeals to customers
seeking to reduce their environmental footprint without compromising
performance."
The TekNano 40 system was acquired through a buyback arrangement with an
existing customer. It had seen minimal use, and its original performance
capabilities preserved, making it an ideal candidate for refurbishment and
redeployment. Tekna will continue to evaluate equipment buyback and redeployment
opportunities where such initiatives create commercial value and align with
customer demand. This approach enables the company to expand its addressable
market in regions and applications where refurbished systems offer compelling
economics.
ABOUT THE TEKNANO SYSTEM
The TekNano 40 is an advanced plasma torch system engineered for development and
pilot scale production of spherical nanopowders used in high value and niche
applications. The system utilizes Tekna's proprietary Inductively Coupled Plasma
technology to transform gas, liquid or solid feedstock into precision spherical
particles with controlled size distribution and exceptional powder quality. The
designation refers to the 40 kW power input of the plasma generator.
Tekna's Inductively Coupled Plasma technology is acclaimed for enabling
state-of-the-art research and manufacturing capabilities in advanced materials,
offering various configurations to meet the needs of diverse industries and
academic research sectors.
EXPANDING THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
The sale reinforces Tekna's commitment to sustainability and circular economy
principles. Earlier in 2026, the Company launched a new Material product line
featuring recycled titanium powders for additive manufacturing applications.
This innovative offering repurposes titanium scrap powders while preserving
material properties essential for non-traceable AM applications, reducing waste
and virgin material consumption.
